KINGSWOOD SCHOOL

The Kingswood School is proposed for over 1000 second level students.  The site is large field on the outskirts of Dublin, in an area of poorly defined public buildings and sprawling housing estates lacking focus and definition.  The site strategy establishes links with adjacent housing developments severed by poor urban planning and exploits the downwards slope to the north to form a stepped section that generates and elevated south facing communal 'Academic Lawn' in the manner used by Thomas Jefferson in Charlottesville, providing an easily maintained and contained outdoor teaching space in fair weather.
