A short project for the students of Athlone IT, carried out between July and October to fit out a former Gymnasium as new Student Health and Counselling Rooms. Cellular rooms in a deep plan with one external wall was the challenge, as well as minimum cost and time. We used large vision panels to borrow light, set at a lower but wider than normal position, obscuring eye contact. The colour palette was chosen to emphasis a slightly domestic character with maple architraves where it might be appreciated by users. Built by Brehon Construction of Roscommon.
